EXPERIENCE:
Since forming his own law office in 2007, Attorney Simpson has continued representing public officials in the defense of civil rights, discrimination and other related claims. He has also continued to represent public employee unions in matters of collective bargaining. In 2008, Attorney Simpson expanded his labor and employment practice to include wage and hour litigation. Since that time, Attorney Simpson has represented hundreds of individuals in wage and hour disputes with their employers either individually or in class actions. Attorney Simpson has obtained favorable settlements on behalf of these individuals in the State and Federal Courts.
Prior to forming his own law office, Attorney Simpson was an Associate in a Boston based comprehensive defense litigation firm specializing in representing municipalities, public agencies, private entities and law enforcement officials in civil rights, labor and employment, personal injury and discrimination claims. Attorney Simpson gained extensive litigation experience principally in the areas of general tort, discrimination, employment and labor, general and special liability claims, subrogation actions and claims brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (Civil Rights Act), the Massachusetts Civil Rights Act and the Americans With Disabilities Act. He also gained considerable civil jury trial experience involving civil rights, tort and personal injury claims and employment disputes before the United States District Court and Superior Courts of Massachusetts. He also provided defense of employment claims brought before the MCAD involving age, sex and handicap discrimination, achieved appellate experience before the United States Court of Appeals, Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Court of Appeals involving civil rights, discrimination and disability claims. Attorney Simpson also gained additional experience regarding labor and employment matters by representing public employees before the Civil Service Commission, American Arbitration Association and DALA as well as criminal defense experience before the Massachusetts Superior and District Courts.
